Historic Brass Today

NEW! Launching in October 2021, Historic Brass Today is a full-color digital magazine in Adobe PDF format with news, features and articles of interest to our members around the world. It is also the first multi-lingual publication published by the Historic Brass Society with some articles in languages other than English. Published twice a year, it is available to our members and we welcome contributions and are always looking for news and content editors in various specialties and regions around the world. If interested in contributing or volunteering in some other role, please email the editors at submissions (at) historicbrass.org.

NOTE: For future issues, you must be a current member and log in first to view them. (See notes at the bottom of the page.)

* Like the Historic Brass Journal, Historic Brass Today is a benefit of membership in the Historic Brass Society. Also like the Journal, the most recent three years of the publication require login for online access, after which, the publications are available publicly.  We are very proud of this new publication and we want to provide the first issue, free to all.

Members: Every member has a login on this website even if you joined and pay by mail. (If you are a long time member or otherwise did not join through our website, your username would have been assigned to you.) Your online username is directly tied to the membership database and your membership payments. If you are a current (or lapsed) member and do not know or remember your username, please DO NOT register on the website again but contact Membership for assistance (see below).

If you don't know or remember your password, there is a change password feature on the login page. Again, if you have difficulty, or if your email address may have changed since joining, please contact Membership for assistance at membership (at) historicbrass.org.

Institutional Subscribers: We hope to once again implement IP-based access in 2022. Please contact membership (at) historicbrass.org with your router (or routers) IP addresse(s) so they can be entered into the database once we develop this feature on our current platform.

** A DOI, or Digital Object Identifier, is a string of numbers, letters and symbols used to permanently identify an article or document and link to it on the web. DOIs are used in academic publications of all types to cite online sources for reference. The DOI System uses a central database and linking system where the DOIs are registered and maintained by the source publishers so that if a URL for a source changes and its DOI registration is updated by the source publisher, citations to that source elsewhere will still resolve to the source.
