At the Fourth International Historic Brass Symposium in New York, in July 2024, the HBS presented a new award to honor the organization’s founder, Jeffrey Nussbaum. The wording of the presentation provides the details of this new award:
We present this award to Jeffrey Nussbaum in recognition of and deep gratitude for his brilliant inspiration, tireless enthusiasm and boundless energy in founding and running the Historic Brass Society for over three decades.
We would not be gathered here today without Jeff’s vision and hard work over thirty years ago to create an organization dedicated to the field of historic brass, and it is a testament to his perseverance and hard work that so many developments in the field of historic brass have taken hold and the field is flourishing.
Further, we establish the Jeffrey Nussbaum Award for Outstanding Service, to be awarded at the discretion of the Board, to those who have demonstrated a similar dedication to the Historic Brass Society through their actions and continued efforts.
